The below Q and A was compiled from
information on the SimWatch
|
|
- Can you have bathrooms under a staircase?
No objects can be placed under the stairs currently.
- Can sims drink and get drunk?
There is a wet bar in the game but the Sims have an amazingly high tolerance
for whatever it is they are drinking.
- What are the grids used for in some of the screen shots?
Those help you position items during buy and build modes.
- If someone is in the house your playing, can you 'control' them? Say,
if they came over to a party, can you do all the things you can do to the
permanent residents?
Nope, you can't control guests. You have to use your Sims to deal with them.
That's part of the fun of having parties. The other day I had this sim guy who
kept walking around insulting people. I finally had to send the sim host over to
ask him to leave.
- How many square feet does each grid represent?
Each square is 3' x 3' resulting in 9 square feet.
- Can a Sim die in a accident or something?
Sims can die if they have a low mechanical score and try to repair a TV by
themselves...they can get electrocuted. Or if they have low cooking scores or
place objects near fireplaces they can start fires. If they get caught in the fire
they will burn to death! Also if you don't feed them they will starve to death.
- Can you remove a Sim from the game for a short period of time or even forever
and resume him later if you want to?
You can evict a family from a house in the neighborhood and they will be kept in
the family screen until you want to pull them out again later. But you have to
evict the whole family, not just one sim at a time.
- Could you make the kids "Become" Adults by exchange them for a
older sim?
Baby's will turn into children in the game , but the children don't turn into
adults. We may or may not be able to create some function that will turn a child
into an adult.
- Will children in the Sim game carry on the same genetics
as the parents? If so, will the girl child look exactly like the mother or
have mixed genes of both parents?
There is a little genetic info being passed along to kids. Children will be a
combination of the skin colors of their parents. Plus certain personality elements
will be transferred to children but I'm not giving away the secret right now.
- If you become an athlete, become a hall-of-famer, and then start a career in
entertainment, how far into an entertainment career will you be?
People starting new careers start at the very bottom of the career track.
- Can you create a house that makes an Apartment building? meaning if you had 3
families, they all only had their one rooms and no others stayed in them?
Only one family per house. You can make a two story building that LOOKS like an
apartment building but it is really a house.
- If your sim is in the military, can he be called off for a war?
No. The Sims live in times of peace and commerce.
- About the Sim Fish tank thing. Will the Sims interact with it? Like feeding
the fish, starring at the tank for endless hours, etc?
You bet. They need to feed the fish, clean the tank, watch them, if necessary
dispose of the dead fish.
- Will there be patches that open up more careers after release?
We [Maxis] intend to allow new objects, skins, wallpapers and floor tiles in the
game. The careers may or may not be extendible. Patches is probably the wrong word
as you will not NEED to update the game with these. They are more like add-ons.
- What are the cheat codes? and what do they do?
Heh heh heh....."There are no cheats in the game".....until you read
about them in a magazine or find them yourself. (UPDATE: Click here
to go The Sims - Cheats section.)
