- Will Sims be able to have a lot of different outfits?
Yes they can buy a dresser and switch into other clothes.
- Say the sims are just hanging out alone at their house and then are holding a
big party. Will they change from really casual clothes to something more dressy?
You can make them change from work clothes to normal clothes, to PJ's and bathing
suits.
- How will you know what kind of day your Sim had at work? Will they just come
home in either a bad or good mood?
You can keep track of your sims' job performance by checking the job status in
the career menu area.
- Can Sims turn down another Sim's marriage proposal? If they do, are the
chances of those two Sims getting married pretty slim, or not?
Yes; It depends on the relationship and the mood the person getting proposal is
in. A sim may want to marry you but could be in a bad mood. Better whip up some
Hors d'oeuvres and get the party started!
- Can a male and female Sim be just friends and not want to have a boyfriend or
girlfriend type relationship? If so, how will you know whether a Sim likes
another Sim as a boyfriend/girlfriend or as a friend?
Of course; If they are a friend, the relationship indicator has a smiley face. If
they are lovers then they get a heart icon. If you anger them those icons will get
crossed out so be nice!
- Do Sims get sick in the show, or do they just die suddenly if they aren't fed
enough?
They die but you can see their hunger meter falling. It is up to you to keep them
fed and happy.
- Can you take medicine if you get sick?
They don't get sick, sorry. (UPDATE: if you installed some of the updates for the
game they may in some cases.)
- If you are electrocuted or burned, then do you automatically die, or can you
try to be brought back to life?
You die and are dead and there are no miracles in the game.
- Can sims go on a vacation?
Not right now....but we [Maxis] may be able to make a vacation an downloadable
object that just costs a lot of simoleons, but makes the sims in a good mood for a
while. They can have parties and call people over to their homes to play in the
pool.
- When we get playing the game, is the only way to figure out which Sim is
which, to look at their "skins?" Or will the option of giving our Sim a
name that would appear when we click on them or hold the mouse over them be
available?
You will have the option of giving you sim a name.
- Will the Sim houses have hallways? Or will each room just open up into
another room? A bathroom leading straight into the kitchen or living room?!
The great thing about the building architect tool in The Sims is that it is so
flexible. You can do whatever you want when designing your SimHome. You can have
hallways extending as long as the lot if you want to!
- I heard that the kids will be mixes of their parents skin color does that
mean if Spiderman marries a sim with the skin of Marge Simpson will the kid have a
yellowish colored spider suit for skin? Or can you indicate that he's just in a
body suit?
Someone correct me if I [Sean Baity] am wrong (Maxoids) but a spider man skin
still has the file name code to be either a light, medium or dark skin person. Say
the name of the skin is b003Mafitmed_spidey, then that parent will just be
considered a "MEDium" skinned parent.
So the child will have perhaps a 50% chance of medium skin or the other parent's
skin color. The game doesn't look at the ACTUAL colors in the skins, just what
skin tone it has been name-coded to work with. BUT.....we [Maxis] have a secret
project that just might do what you want...no promises though.

- Can Sims adopt children?
Yes
- Are there gay sims?
Yes
- Can Sims become drug addicts and if so, to which substances? or is it generic
drugs?
No drugs.
- Can my sim have an unusual sleep schedule?
Yes
- Can a sim save up enough money and "retire" from work?
Yes. It's not called "retire" but you can get yourself fired and
not get
another job.
- What if a sim gets fired from all the career fields? Will there be any
he or she can get or does the sim have to restart?
Yes. You can always restart a career.
- Will the game speed be adjustable?
Yes, 3 speeds.
- What happens if my sim gets trapped in the bathroom without any toilet paper?
No concept of toilet paper in The Sims. There's always enough.
