- What's the best paying job in the game?
Politician, Doctor a life of crime has possibilities.
- Can you drive a car? In one of the graphics pack that thesims.com
provided had cars in it. What are the cars used for, if you can't drive them?
Cars are for car pooling to work and to school.
- When your sims get married does it change there personalities?
They do not change personalities when they get married. But you may want to try
and work out your problems so your mate doesn't kick you out or leave you.
- Explain the gay sims a little....and is it possible for a gay couple to have
kids? (like adoption)
You can have gay Sims and they can have kids.
- Is there adoption? How does adoption work?
There is adoption. After having a successful relationship and are very
affectionate you get a phone call asking if you would like to adopt.
- I know there are ghosts in The Sims but what do they do? Do all dead sims
have ghosts?
The ghosts wander around and visit the things they miss.
- What happens when you save a game?
You can save your game. When you are ready to play again your Sims will be doing
what they were doing last. If you Sims was in the tub when you saved the water may
be cold when you go to play again. If you decide to play another family your past
family will carry on without you.
- How will you change from the first to the second floor? I saw on the replay
from the webcam that the girl was on the second floor but how do you get there?
There is button on the left of your screen to switch your view from the first
level to the second. Your Sims walks up the stairs.
- When the sims change into something like a bathing suit, to they actually
change or do they like go behind a curtain or do they just magically appear in a
bathing suit? Also, do you change every day or do you wear the same clothes
every day?
When the Sims change outfits, they do a nifty little spin animation and ta-da,
they are in their new outfit. If you buy a dresser, you can change as many times
in a day as you like!
- Is it possible that The Sims could be played multi player on the net in
the future?
Maybe.
- If you hire a maid can you end up marrying her?
No, you can't marry any of the NPC characters such as the Maid, Repairman,
Gardener, or Papergirl.
- Can Sims drown in the pool?
Yes, if your sims are low in energy or tired.
- Can Sims get hurt at their jobs and collect workers comp?
No.
- Can you buy more then 1 lot to build a bigger house?
No, but you can buy different sized lots.
- Can you have an pool inside your house?
You can put a pool anywhere on your lot, inside and outside.
- Can Sims get drunk and would this change their social skills?
They can't get drunk but they can drink.
- Can Sims get arrested for fighting with other Sims?
No. But you can get fined for having a late-night party, be careful and don't make
too much noise!
- How are Sim relationships manipulated within the game? Can you
"make" them fall in love with each other, etc? Can you create a
"gay" character?
You can not make a Sim fall in love with another Sim. You have to cook things up
and create a relationship between them to get them to fall in love. There are no
restrictions on the type of relationships Sims can have. So You can play a gay
character.
- How do ghosts appear?
Sometimes at night from the tombstone or Urn the Sim created when he/she died.
- How do ghost affect the Sims in the house?
They can scare them and wake them up.
- Can a sim be killed at work if he takes the millitary career track?
No. Sims are never harmed while at work.
- Can the sim kid have relationships with other kids as in
boyfriend/girlfriend?
No. They are only 10 years old. They can be friends though.
- Will the be career editor? if so when?
We [Maxis] don't know.
- Will each saved game make a Web site?
Yes.
- I hear you can make stories involving big parts of the sims lives and put
them on the net, like Luc has done, if so how?
It is built into the game.
- Can the Sims vacation out of their "SimCity" or wherever they
live? Like could they go visit another SimCity for instance?
No. They can not leave their house except for work and when visiting other Sims in
the neighborhood.
- Do sims celebrate Christmas, Easter, birthdays etc.?
Sims do not celebrate any holidays.
- Say I have a couple, is there any way I can prevent them having children, or
do I have to live with it? Is there an option hidden somewhere? Also, What do we
see of sims at work?
You are always asked if you want to have a child. Also there is nothing
visible while your Sim is at work. If there are other Sims home you can play with
them otherwise the game goes into fast speed until the Sim returns from work.
- Is there are recognizable seasons in The Sims. Is there a date
counter like the one in Sim City 3000?
There is no concept of long term time in The Sims. You have a clock for time
of day but no concept of weeks, months, or years. There is also no weather in the
Sims. Always bright and sunny, hi's in the 90's, lows in the high 70's.
